Gorilla Family Pops Into Camp To Say Hello

This is what happened back in 2012 on a trekking adventure to see gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site. A gorilla family, including the male silverback, walked nonchalantly into Gorilla Forest Camp. It happens from time to time, but I am certain that what unfolded on this occasion is something that is never far from top of mind for those who were there, especially John King.

Luckily for us Jonathan Rossouw, field director for Zegrahm Expeditions, was on hand to film the entire encounter with these powerful but essentially peaceable primates.

I have shared this video before, but after the extraordinary reaction a few weeks ago to Damian Aspinall’s moving reunion with his gorilla friend Kwibi. If you missed that one here’s another opportunity to savour the moment.
